Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care. Children’s safety is our highest priority.

All staff are trained to recognise the signs of abuse and neglect and know how to respond to concerns. Any safeguarding concerns are reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and managed in line with local safeguarding partnership procedures.

We work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure children are protected and supported. Confidential records are kept securely and shared only when necessary to safeguard a child.

Health and Safety Policy

We provide a safe and secure environment for children, staff, and visitors. Regular risk assessments are carried out to identify and reduce hazards.

Our premises are checked daily, equipment is well maintained, and staff supervise children at all times. Fire drills are practised regularly, and emergency evacuation procedures are clearly displayed.

Children are encouraged to learn about safety through age-appropriate activities and daily routines.

Admissions Policy

We welcome all children and families. Places are offered based on availability and the child’s age.

A settling-in process is provided to help children feel secure and confident. Parents are encouraged to visit the nursery and share important information about their child before they start.

Where necessary, we operate a waiting list and allocate places fairly and transparently.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where every child and family is valued and respected.

We celebrate diversity and ensure that no child or adult is treated unfairly due to race, religion, gender, disability, family background, or ability. British Values are actively promoted through everyday practice.

Children with additional needs are supported through inclusive planning and partnership with parents and professionals.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Policy

We support children with SEND to achieve their full potential.

Our SENCo works closely with families and external professionals to ensure appropriate support is in place. Individual support plans are created where needed and progress is reviewed regularly.

Parents are involved at every stage of their child’s development.

Behaviour Management Policy

We promote positive behaviour through praise, encouragement, and clear boundaries.

Children are supported to understand their emotions and develop self-regulation skills. Consistent, age-appropriate strategies are used at all times.

Physical punishment or humiliating methods are never used. Parents are informed and involved when ongoing behaviour support is required.

Illness and Infection Control Policy

To protect children and staff, we follow clear procedures for managing illness and infection.

Children who are unwell should remain at home. We follow NHS guidance on exclusion periods for common illnesses. Good hygiene routines are maintained throughout the day to reduce the spread of infection.

Medication is administered only with written parental consent.

Accident and Incident Policy

All accidents and incidents are recorded accurately and shared with parents on the same day.

First aid is administered by trained staff. Parents are informed immediately if their child requires medical attention.

Records are stored securely and reviewed regularly to help prevent future accidents.

Food, Nutrition and Mealtimes Policy

We provide healthy, balanced meals and snacks that meet children’s nutritional needs.

Dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences are respected and managed safely. Fresh drinking water is available at all times.

Mealtimes are calm, social experiences that encourage independence and positive eating habits.

Fees, Funding and Late Collection Policy

Fees are payable in advance and full details are provided at registration.

We offer government-funded early education places where families are eligible. Late collections may incur a charge.

Parents are asked to contact the nursery as soon as possible if they expect to be delayed.

Complaints Policy

We value feedback and aim to resolve concerns quickly and fairly.

Complaints should initially be raised with the nursery manager. If concerns remain unresolved, they can be escalated through our formal complaints procedure.
